A few days ago I saw an article on MacNN about wireless AC cards being made by a company called Quickertek for the older MacBook Air and MacBook Pro laptops.

I asked if they would offer a solution for the 4,1 and 5,1 Mac Pro and they said yes.

If anyone is interested give them a buzz at www.quickertek.com

Why would it be a different card between the MacBook Pro and Mac Pro? I thought they were all the same mini-PCIe cards. In fact, this has worked for me in the past.

When I had a MacBook Pro with A/B/G wi-fi, I bought the "N" wireless upgrade kit for "Mac Pro" and the little miniPCIe card in that kit worked fine in the Macbook Pro.

From what I see if I follow the link is that Quickertek hasn't tried to fit it to machines other than the 15" MacBook Pro Retina and the 13" MacBook Air.

The card also comes in two sizes:

    V1- 2 Port Size: 39.9 mm x 18.07 mm
    V2 - 3 Port Size: 46 mm x 18.5 mm

A two port version for the MBA 13" and a 3 port version for the MBPr.

They stopped using mini PCIE some time ago. Cards in MBP and iMac are significantly smaller. I posted pix etc a few months ago. There is an adaptor board but it is hard to come by. I sent one to Barefeats but I don't think he has tested yet.

Mini PCIE slot in cMP doesn't have USB so no BT without external connection

They are completely different pin setups and sizes. New board has to be made that fits the Mac Pro.
