If the new Touch's charging is different than older iPods and doesn't use the firewire adapter will iHomes and other speaker systems still charge the Touch as they do with the older ones?

Also I have a direct link into my car stereo that charges and allows music to play through the speakers. Is it safe to use a Touch with this? If it doesn't actually charge the iPod but still plays it will the current running through the wires trying to charge it harm the iPod or do nothing?
Thanks

If you've got an iHome, some models will work and some won't. Unfortunately, the older versions often aren't compatible with the newer iPods. It may play music, but won't charge. It may not do either.

With your car audio, that also depends on how it's setup. The most you can do is try, and no -- it won't hurt the iPod just to try.

so if it still plays on my car but doesn't charge it's okay to use? You said it wouldn't hurt to try so I'm just making sure, I don't want to risk it with a $400 item.
