Quickoffice Formula Question

Can anyone get quicksheet to allow them to tap on cells to insert them into the formula bar. The instructions say pick a formula from the drop down list and then tap on the cells you want inserted into the formula. When I try to tap on a cell it is non-responsive? The only way I can find around this is to physically type in the relevant cell references into the formula, i.e. a pain in the axx.
