Careful when you download the 3.0 update, it will come out as .ipsw.zip but don't unzip it, just get rid of the .zip instead. This problem took me a little longer than expected to figure out.. Cheers!

I've heard it depends on your browser but I've never seen it add .zip to mine on my Mac.

Safari usually adds zip on mine, so I use Firefox to download IPSWs.

If safari changes the extension, you can usually find the original file in the trash.

why does the mac tutorial tell you to uncheck activate phone?..

if you're unlocking it to be used with another carrier, you won't be able to activate it after unlocking it will you?

i dunno, i'm an unlock / jailbreak noob. trying to unlock a 2g that already has 3.0 on it for my girlfriend to use with tmobile
