i havent used this computer in a long time but a few weeks ago when i got a MBP i took it out of my closet to transfer some stuff over. when i put this computer away it was in fine working order, but now whenever i try to turn it off the light on the power button stays on and the fan in the back is still going, but the computer is not functionable at all at this point, the screen is just black. im guessing its something to do with the power supply but i figured id ask all you long term mac users.

I assume there is no bong? According to the service manual I have for the QS, it says to:

1. reset the PMU (press the button close to the battery then wait 10 seconds)
2. Reseat all cards
3. replace the PMU battery
And other stuff concerning the processor (reseat, replace)

Most likely the PMU battery has went bad and needs replaces. OWC sells them for around $5. If you don't want to wait for shipping, I've heard RadioShack sells the battery for around $12.
