I've just moved some videos over from my macbook to my new imac but they are not playing. I'm just getting a white screen. They are .avi files. Do I need to download a codec? I don't remember doing so on my macbook. Thanks

I would HIGHLY recommend the Perian quicktime plug in. Once Perian is installed quicktime will play virtually every video file format known to man (except wma).

Perian.org

I love it!

I'll toss my vote in for perian as well as VLC. Personally VLC is my player of choice before quicktime or (sacrilege!) iTunes. VLC usually handles WMV/WMA as well, but sometimes will crash. To round up my trifecta of media apps, I'll suggest Flip4Mac for that.

WOW!
I never knew about perian but I was just searching google since I had an avi showing white since I upgraded to leopard.

I loaded this and it worked perfectly.

Thanks!!
