I downloaded a couple of videos. They are 720p wmv format. They run in quicktime but I noticed that when I open the videos they need time to "buffer(?)" as in I cant skip around the video until several minutes into it. I thought that was only the case with streaming videos. Does anyone know what Im referring to and can help me out with making so the videos dont behave this way? Thanks

It'll be because the movie is being conevrting from wmv to movie so it can be played by Quicktime. Once it's ready to play do a Save As from Quicktime and it will save as a .mov file and will then play instantly.

Not "converted" so much as the timecode is not in a format that Quicktime does natively. You'll see the same thing happening with stuff like MKV files.
