Since purchasing and installing Lion I am having problems viewing videos on my macbook.

I try watching an avi file and I get the audio but no video.

Do I need to download something else to fix this?

Yes, you need to download Perian to properly play .avi files natively with QuickTime.

You must have did something wrong.

Otherwise, use VLC. It plays everything.

I've got similar problem. Perian installed. On SL with perish everything was fine. On lion for some vids I get picture and sound for a few seconds them mo sound at all. Fast forward a little sound comes back Cor a second or two then stops. Clearly a bug here.
