Hi there!!!

i've got a serious problem creating a dvd cause imovie complains about not being able to play my mpeg2 file with quicktime. so, i know there's this upgradestuff on apple.com for about 20 $, but are there any other ways to enable quicktime for mpeg2?
to be honest, i'm quite angry about that cause i changed from xp to mac just a month ago, and all i wanna do is creating a dvd right know with the software i officially bought!!!

thank you all for your support!!!

good tip on this site http://danslagle.com/mac/iMovie/tips_tricks/6010.shtml

# Pull the Video OBjects (VOB files) off the DVD using something like Mac the Ripper (Not necessary if you have an .MPG/.MPEG already on your hard drive).
# Demux the VOB or MPEG file (extract the audio and video tracks out of it) with something like BBdemux. (Streamclip)
# Convert the video to a format that iMovie/Quicktime can read with something like DiVA. (Streamclip)
# Extract/convert the audio with something like MadPlay or Wiretap. (Streamclip)
# Put the audio and video back together using Quicktime Pro or iMovie. (Streamclip converts to DV)

To legally play MPEG-2 content in QuickTime-compatible applications, you need the Sorensen MPEG-2 Playback Component for a fee of $19.99. Due to license retrictions from Sorensen, this codec works only in the QuickTime player. This is why you have to go through the gymnastics posted above.

Anyone have a link to the $20 download update for the MPEG-2 codec fix?

I want to be able to import/export from within Quicktime and Final Cut Pro again. Also I am now running an Intel MacBook Pro...why do I get the sense that not having a Power PC comp. makes this MPEG-2 update more difficult?:apple::confused:
