Quicktime playing up suddenly

Got QT 10.1 on my MacMini. Finding it not as friendly as my old QT - can't remember what version, but Save As has gone, editing not as easy, trimming and adding and joining clips not there, but today I am trying to edit and export a short movie as I have been doing for a few weeks and now getting a message "This operation could not be completed, unknown error occurred"

This only after the movie has been trimmed, yet I have done this before a day or two ago. If I leave the movie raw it will export.

I have quit QT and opened again.

Any thoughts please?
