I watch web TV sometimes. The two largest TV channels in Norway, NRK and TV2, both offer web TV. NRK is free. They use Windows Media technology, and to be frank, both services are really, really, bad.

I have tried NRK's service with Windows XP in Firefix and Internet Explorer and on Mac OS X with Safari and it's terrible on all platforms.

I decided to ask NRK about this and if there really wasn't any better solutions out there. They answered that unfortunately there are no alternatives, but they would definitely consider other solutions if they did exist.

So that makes me wonder how capable Quicktime technology is in this area. We know that Quicktime does do streaming since Apple frequently stream Steve Jobs' keynotes, so what is it that's lacking? Is it DRM solutions, or maybe something else?

I'd guess that in the next few months/years we'll see a lot of new TV content available via iTunes/Quicktime.
