Quicktime with Perian to play mp4 file with srt subtitle?

I have Quicktime 10(pre-installed in snow leopard) with Perian to play mp4 file with srt subtitle. But the subtitle wasn't showing. Is it because perian doesn't support mp4 file? or doesn't support quicktime 10? How to fix it?
