Yesterday Quicktime X started having audio playback problems, regardless of source. Whether it's a video, mp3, or audio from the Safari, the same distortion occurs. To my ears it sounds sort of like a buffering problem, but it could be anything, really.

The only thing Ithat has changed is that I updated the drivers of my external audio interface (Avid MboxPro 3), but it works fine with iTunes, Firefox, and other applications, which is what ledme to believe Quicktime is the problem.

Anybody have this problem, or knows how to fix? Thanks.

Sounds like a plugin with that update might have a conflict!

That sounds reasonable, but it is the exact same driver package that I have been using for more than a year. I reinstalled it for different reasons.

Meanwhile, I have narrowed it down to this:

Quicktime and Safari playback audio distorted when Cubase or Sibelius is open. iTunes and Firefox play back fine.
When I quit Cubase and/or Sibelius, everything is fine.

When using the internal audio, everything seems fine, although hard to tell on that little MacPro speaker.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the MboxPro's drivers, to no avail.
