Quoted posts shows old username. Example below.

My old username (ivanwi11iams) is showing in the quoted reply, versus my new username (Circatee) which I have had for quite sometime now...

You are correct. This is a known disadvantage of changing a user name.

It's documented in the FAQs: Can I change my user name?

... consider the following problems that can result if your user name is changed ...

• posts that quote your posts will say Originally Posted by (oldusername) while the linked-to post will not match that name.

It's a result of how the forum software works. When a post quotes a previous post, the software puts the quoted user's current user name in the text of the new post. Even if the quoted user's user name later changes, the text in the database doesn't change.

If the forum software tracked the user's user number instead, when a post was quoted, and looked up the user name each time an older post was displayed, then the current user name would appear. We agree that it would have been preferable, but perhaps it wasn't designed that way for performance reasons.
