My friend got me a discount on my new Macbook. But when he was selecting type of discount there wasn't an option for friends&family so he put personal. So it seems like for all intents and purposes 'he' bought the laptop. I'm going to get the Apple Care in my name.

Can anyone see any problems coming from this in the future, the fact that it is technically in his name? Does that affect what apple account is associated with the laptop? Does it associate him with the laptop? If I get repairs, and the apple care is in my name, is that enough?

Are Apple employees not allowed to use their 'personal' 25% discount on a friend's computer?

If they're not allowed, can you think of any possible situation that could come up, where I'd have to deal with Apple and they'd realize that my friend let me use his discount? Maybe if I had a problem and had to return it or something? If so, what would they do if I showed up with a receipt that isn't mine, showing them that a friend used their personal discount improperly?

Is there any electronic record of who bought this laptop? Is his name associated with it's serial code?

Finally, do I miss out on any offers or anything else by not having my name on the bill? Can I still register this computer under my name?

Wow that seems like a lot of worries! Just that I've been waiting to get this laptop for a while and don't want anything to go wrong now.

    Thanks a lot!

I know they get three 15% discounts for friends/families, one 25% for them self. Does that just mean that those three 15% can only be for friends and family, the 25% can be for anyone?

AppleCare warranty is associated with the machine itself, not the machine purchaser
