I’ve been looking at the option of fitting a Radeon 9000 Pro in my G4 Cube for OS 9.

Currently running a 7500 in there.

I already have a Stratos VRM and understand it would involve a VRM relocation with a suitable extension cable.

But eyeing it up, I can’t see how the Radeon’s ports would clear the cut out slot in the Cube chassis. The ADC port “catch” will be in the way.

Has anyone here ever done this conversion? Does it mean (god forbid) having to cut away some clearance?

I should add that ideally I’d use a GF3 instead.

But after searching for so long and recently finding one that was dead, I’ve kinda given up hope!

The GF3 - don’t I know! I was heartbroken when I finally bought one and it was dead.

Thank you for the link. It confirms what I suspected - metal trimming is involved to make it fit properly.

It does seem a lot of work, especially considering that the benchmarks don’t seem to be a drastic improvement over the 7500.
