Just ordered a Radeon X850XT video card on Ebay... I know i'll have to flash it when it arrived. However I splurge bought without making thread here first (I know) It's a PCI-E video card and the FX 5200 in the MAc now says it's an AGP card. Will it work? Or do I just waste money for a paperweight?

The machine is a Powermac G5 Dual 2.3GHZ.

Also, if it works, will I have to have an external power cable to make it run? (I see there is a power connection port on the card)

PCI-E video cards will not work in your model PowerMac. Only AGP and PCI video cards will.

That card wouldn't even work in a PCIe G5 without flashing. Best to do your research before purchasing.
I don't even think there is a x850 rom for the PCI-E versions of those cards; so I think he's really out of luck :p

Oh well it happens to the best of us :p

Well its not like he spent 50+ on the card so I wouldn't say its that bad.

Chuck it into an old PCIE machine and have some fun with it.

I was able to cancel the ending bid, so no loss. Thanks again!
