Radio playing with Smart Cover closed?

Every once in a while I like to play a podcast when I go to bed,shut the Smart Cover and it just keeps playing.For WHATEVER reason now when I shut the cover the sound stops?I don't think I have changed anything but it's driving me nuts that I can't do this anymore??Suggestions?Thanks in advance🙂
