In an few words, basically with RAID 0 you can combine 2 HDD to behave like a big one, it gives you faster performance, but increases the risk because if one fails the whole arrangement fails.
And with RAID 1 you make 1 HDD a clone of the other instantly, so you have a good redundant drive if one fails the other will perform.

OK, so when you do mirrored RAID 1,
then i would presume that the system writes much slower
than no RAID......?

Will Mirrored RAID 1 slow down my system alot....?
compared to no RAID at all...?

Mirrored RAID seems perfect for me,
but i hope it isn't gonna slow down the system to much......?

What if you take 2 Raptor 10 K drives and make a mirrored RAID 1,
that would seem like a nice set up...?
