i am intending to set up a RAID mirror array...

both hard disks are internal and they are identical in terms of size.
one of the 2 disks involves the startup disk (Macintosh HD) and the other hard disk is empty

from what I could see at Apple support website, there is no other way to set up such RAID set without having to first backup data then make a clean install of the startup disk...

is there an alternative solution out there which I can set up RAID set without having to erase the startup disk?
