hi guys, just wondering if i would be able to add more that 4 gigs of ram to an mbp?
Yeah, can't be done
The motherboard only supports that much.
It should support 8 gigs, but there are two things working against you:
1. Apple and their history of firmware restriction of memory capacities.
2. No one makes 4 gig PC5300 sticks as far as I know.
You mean, Apple would artificially restrict functionality that we have paid for from us?
Did you really buy a MBP for the ability to work with 8gb of ram....?
Yup, they did it with the Calistoga-based iMacs, MacBooks, MacBook Pros and Minis.
Anyone think there's a chance that the new case design will allow for 3 sticks of ram?
Yeah, me neither.
I want more! But don't really care.
