Anyone have any strong opinions on RAM for the 5,1?

VS

For example.

OWC uses RAM sticks from other 3rd parties , puts another sticker on it and sells it for an exorbitant price.
Apparently this fancy blue paint exhibits some extraordinary qualities....

The other link you posted is 4Rx4 and will not work , unless you're willing to spoof RAM in OpenCore.
Server pulls on eBay are the most cost effective option I think, but look for 2Rx4.
Without having to dig deep into all compatibility details I'd search eBay like this for example:

Oh that eBay link won't work in the 5,1?

What spec is wrong?

Can you post a specific product?
The eBay search I posted shows 6 products that will work, check if they ship to Australia though.

E.g. this seller I bought from several times:

For example.

I like to recommend Data Memory Systems as I have used them for a long time with 0 issues.

EDIT : My reply intention : To the attention of KeesMacPro

Very late reply . . . .
I don't have OpenCore ( though Martin is a Genius ) installed but I DO HAVE two x ECC 16gb. 4Rx4 PC3 8500R 1066 modules up and running in my 4,1>5,1 cMP without any issues in Mojave 10.14.6. I got them from AliExpress for arund ¥7,500 delivered free to Japan
However . . . . probably 2Rx4 modules are a 'safer' option & guaranteed to work as advertised

EDIT ; I'm running Xeon 5570

Hey MIKX,

Your post looks like you're quoting me, which is not the case (except for the first quote).
Maybe you could edit it?
Thx in advance,
regards.

Check post #2

You posted " 4Rx4 and will not work" ( EDIT ) unless OpenCore installed etc.

In my case no OpenCore, no RAM spoofing.

No offense intended to you but to be clear 4Rx4 ECC 16gb x 2 working natively in my cMP.

YOU should check your post #12 : it says 3 times "KeesMacPro said" which is incorrect.
You are posting your opinion as if it was a statement by me.
Read your post again.

And yes, I know what I wrote in post #2 and dont see any point in re-reading it.
No offense taken.
