RAM Cost for Early 2008?

I was just looking at 32Gig ram upgrade at OWC and it is nearly $1000, but the same upgrade on the more recent 6-12 Core MacPros looks like under $400... is that right?

DDR2 with ECC plus specific heat sinks vs common DDR3...

My Early 2008 came with 4GB, I upgraded to 16, and later to 24.
Cost me a pretty penny.
