I had purchased 4 X 2GB of 800 MHz FB-DIMM for my new Mac Pro from CanadaRam. I just checked their website and it went up $37 today. Are the US RAM vendors following suit?

I am in Canada and I bought mine from OWC. It is being shipped now. 4 x 2 GB cost me $425 including shipping. I will let you know if there is any border costs. What did you pay in total?

When did you order? I had previously seen the price of that configuration for $399 USD but now it's $439. Could have saved on shipping which will add another $30 or so.

For anyone wanting to upgrade they should order now! No telling when it will be hiked again.

BTW, what shipping method did you choose? I'm thinking the FedEX route is the way to go. USPS is also pretty good but their tracking isn't up to par with FE.

I bought my original set of 2x2gb from OWC for $199. I just purchased an extra set this morning, but the price was now $219, so I guess their supply is running low...maybe not so surprising, as the Mac Pro has been a VERY popular new machine...

I can't afford to buy any more RAM for my MP right now (2GB stock), so I have my fingers crossed it doesn't shoot up over the coming months when I might.

My total was $458 which included free shipping and a free Kingston 1GB flash drive. Of course GST is added to $458. You may have to pay GST + PST + customs fee. Please post your border costs as your way may still be cheaper.

The FB-DIMM architecture has effectively been EOLed so I can only see the costs for the modules increasing over time as production slows (and eventually stops) and Apple switches to a newer architecture possibly later this year. In the meantime there may be fluctuations, however long term the price will definitely continue to rise.

It'll probably go up as the local spike in demand causes a lack of supply, then as demand drops a bit and supply eases the price will go back down. This is basically the curve the original Mac Pro (667Mhz) RAM followed. In 3-6 months time it'll be significantly cheaper than it was last week...

I ordered mine Jan.13 and it was shipped USPS Express
Mail Intl on Jan.21 Tracking it tells me it's in Canada on the 23rd. It was $399.00 plus $26.25 for S&H

I am hoping to get it tomorrow but no big rush as I am waiting for the computer to ship :( I will post the border fees if any when I get it.

Good than maybe I can afford to buy some more ;)

That would be nice if that were the case, but definitely don't bank on it. RAM prices are volatile and nothing is guranteed - other than the fact that, as I mentioned in my previous post, prices will rise once supply decreases.

Just received my RAM. Border fees are $78.28 plus the $425.25 I paid for the ram = $503.53
Let me break this down... Duty = $14.51 GST = $21.45 PST = $34.32 Handling = $8.00

Thanks. So, I paid $458 + $6.87 insurance (shipping was free), + GST for a total of $487.77
They also threw in a free Kingston 1GB USB flash drive. I see no reason to buy from OWC if you're in Canada.

Looks like you got a great deal - congrats! As I said before, I highly recommend CanadaRAM for anyone here in Canada - definitely the way to go.
