RAM install but reading wrong amount

I just bought Nemix 4GB 2X2GB and installed in my Mac Pro (3.1). It should be 14GB total but showing as 12GB. It's showing as 2GB (2X1GB) instead. The new RAM is in riser 2 slots 1&2. First I installed in slots 3&4 but I moved to see if it mad a deference. It was brand new and sealed.

Any ideas or is the RAM mislabeled?

Can you try the new memory on its own and see how the system recognises it?

If that shows them as ok sticks, check the configuration with apples guide.
