I am needing Ram in a major way!
I have 768 MB of DDR SDRAM on a 1.8 GHz PowerPC G5
I am wanting to upgrade to 2 GB of RAM but not to limit myself to 2 GB.
I will soon need to upgrade again to a full 4 GB of Ram.

Where is the best place in North America or Canada to purchase this type of RAM?

Thanks

Well I just came back from FutureShop and installed my new RAM just now.
I dont know what to be expecting from this stuff.
Will I see an improvment mainly on FCP HD and other aplications like that?
Or whats going to take place?

Thanks

Since you mentioned Canada, I would strongly recommend CanadaRAM. Trevor, the CEO, actually frequents this site a lot, so you could always PM him if you had any questions. I highly recommend them because they 1) guarantee 100% Mac-compatibility and 2) have a lifetime warranty. If you buy from anywhere else which does not know the important differences and potential issues involved with Mac RAM requirements versus PC RAM requirements, you could be rolling the dice - best to go with someone who guarantees Mac compatibility and won't sell you a generic module which could cause issues. Also, many places will charge a restocking fee if your RAM doesn't work, etc. - this is where an excellent warranty comes into play.

And from my experience, FutureShop staff are clueless when it comes to technology specifics. They make completely incorrect statements, don't understand fundamentals (the necessity of gold-plated digital cables is one of my favorites... ) and are ignorant. I'm sure not all of them are, however I am simply speaking from personal experience and a myriad of customer feedback. Regardless, I would never buy RAM from such an outfit.
