I upgraded my eMac with some RAM, and I gave my old 256MB stick of PC 133 RAM to my friend who's running a G3 blue tower with 2 128MB sticks of RAM. Normally, he only uses PC 100 RAM. When we put in the PC 133RAM into the older G3, under system profiler, it read it was only using half, or 128MB of RAM.

We tried switching the sticks around (3 out of 4 slots) and that didn't work. Is it just that his computer is not reading the RAM right? I'd say the RAM was faulty but it works fine in my eMac. Or could it be something weird where there's 2 PC 100 128 sticks of RAM with a PC 133 256 MB of RAM?

I am not sure but I think the Powermac G3 used PC100 RAM that is why You are only seeing half.

Probably not a DIMM problem, but a quirk of the Grackle chipset (it's from Motorola).

This isn't a new problem.

It's been mention time and again.
