So, with new UMBP, i saw the RAM is now expandable up to 8 gigs. Seeing as how it is practically the same hardware as the UMB, is the UMB expandable to 8 gigs??? I believe officially, they were only supported to 4, but if 8 is possible, I would love to get 8. Any thoughts/concrete knowledge on this topic?

RAM on Collector's Edition UMB

Actually, I believe they use the same DDR3 1066 RAM. I am just wondering if UMB
Collector's Edition with 2.4 Ghz processor is expandable (unofficially) to 8 gigs, or is it stuck at 4.

Everything I have read says that all the 1st Gen Unibodies are stuck at 4. Some people are running MBP with 6, I do not know if this is possible in the "collector's edition".
Perhaps SL will allow the 1st Gen unibodies the ability to run with 8.
I hope so. Apple's site shows that it is officially 4 gigs max. Anyone try upping the RAM past that?

Calling the UMB a 'Collectors Edition' is just so lame. Face it, we have an outdated model with no Firewire or SD slot.
Haha. True, but I'm ok with it. It runs good for me, I just want to up the RAM for some performance boosts.
This thread is hillarious. So any discontinued Mac model is now a "Collector's Edition"? If that's the case I have lots of electronics that are "Collector's Editions". 
haha, it's just a joke. I think the reason people started calling it Collectors Edition was cause it only lasted 1 generation, for 7 months, before being rebranded.
