Random question that I just realized I dont have the answer to. Do the retail stores have models with the upgraded RAM, or are those options online-only at Apple.com?

If you have questions that these sources doesn't cover, you can check to see if it has been answered in another thread by doing a Google search of the forums. I hope this helps!

Heh, I know about all of the guides, but am on my mobile. What I am asking is, if I walk into the store today to buy an Air, will they have models with the 4gb option in stock?

Would any one know since you didn't state what store? Since you are on a mobile, wouldn't the easiest thing to do is call and ask?

They may, but you missed the point. You're much better off buying RAM and installing it yourself, since Apple overcharges for RAM.

*sigh* I am not asking if a certain store will have a certain option. It is actually a really simple question. Let me rephrase:

On Apple.com you have the ability to select a 4GB RAM option for MacBook Air. Do the retail locations typically stock the same options, or do they carry the base configurations only?

Stores are different. While many stores only carry base models, some stores do carry CTO models. There's no way for anyone on this forum to know what any particular store has in stock at any particular point in time. If you want to know, call the store. *sigh*

You realize the RAM in the MBA is not user replaceable right? It's soldered in, which is why he's asking.

Generally, Apple stores only carry the base models. Many of the larger stores will also carry the "ultimate" configuration of each size as well. You definitely won't be able to get a random custom configuration, though.

Thanks.... missed that it was MBA. Still, calling the store is the only way to know what they have in stock.

Edit: thanks all and sorry for the misunderstanding. I should have been more clear with my initial wording. We're all friends again :)

No one said anything about avatars, post counts, newbies, searching or anything of the kind. Most questions make perfect sense to ask in the forum. However, you could have called your local store (wherever that may be) and gotten an answer to your question in much less time than it took you to make this thread. No one on this forum can possibly answer your question without knowing which store is closest to you and calling that store, as store inventories vary and it's even possible for your store to be temporarily out of stock on any item.

No worries. I am sitting in a book store and the question came to me. I didn't want to be one of those folks who talk on the phone in a library setting.

As I said in my previous edited post, I should have been more clear originally. Sorry for lashing back - standard defense mechanism engaged itself. Take care :)

Don't u think it would be easier to answer the guys question then belittle him for not knowing the answer? It might actually take less time to answer than to post a bunch of links.

I guess you didn't read this thread because if you did you have found out that it was impossible to answer the question from the information provided by the OP. It probably would have taken less time to read the other posts in the thread instead of criticizing the others posters for answering the OP.

I understood the question the first time, but again the simple answer is some stores do and some dont, only way to know for sure is to check with your own local store by calling or walking in. Hope it works out for you goodluck!
