M mjfarsi macrumors member Original poster Mar 30, 2012 #1 I have a 27" iMac with 4 RAM slots. I want to upgrade the RAM... Currently it is using 2- 2GB slots. If I purchase 2 - 8 GB cards, should I remove the 2- 2GB sticks? Basically, I don't know if all of the sticks need to be the same size. Thanks.

Best thing to do is to go here: http://www.crucial.com/uk/upgrade/Apple-memory/iMac-models.html?click=true Then find your model, click it - in there you will find all information you need. don't see why you should have two take out the two original sticks.
