Are the Late 2011 MacBook pros ram compatible with the 2011 iMacs?

Because my iMac has 2x4gb ram (8gb)
And I soon plan on buying a MBP, I plan on swapping its ram out for 8 gigs aswell
(the one I want is 2x2gb)

So instead of not using the RAM I'd like to take the old MBP ram and add it to the iMac to have 2x4gb and 2x2gb for a total of 12 gigs.

Anyone else done this? Are the ram modules the same?

Should be the same, as long as an i5/i7 processor..

204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10600)

If you check your 'About this MAC' (Apple :apple: in Top Left Corner) and go to 'Memory' it should be the same..

Hopefully.. ;)
