So I know this has been asked a few times, but the answer is still never that clear. I have a mid 2010 MBP 7,1 with a Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4Ghz and 4gb or 1067mhz ram installed now I have a best buy gift card and am looking to upgrade my ram. will this ram work? http://www.bestbuy.com/site/corsair...&skuId=1623588&productCategoryId=abcat0506002 I know it's 1333mhz but from what I understand it will underclock to 1067.

    It should work just fine.

In any case, best buy will accept returns on pretty much anything, try it, the worst that'll happen is a computer that will refuse to boot until you stick the correct RAM back in.

So I didn't buy that and instead went with the http://www.bestbuy.com/site/pny-opt...533332124&skuId=4816107&st=pny 1333&cp=1&lp=4 and the MBP failed to boot. If it will underclock to 1066 why won't it boot on my computer? Anyone have an idea should I go get the corsair memory? I went with this brand (although not as reputable as corsair) because it said it would work with 1066mhz

It would appear not to under clock as advertised (at least not with your Mac or model), what more can you expect people to say?

Judging by the forum evidence not all memory works with all Macs even if the spec suggests it should.
