I have done a lot of searching the forum looking for an answers and advice. I have a 2.0 ghz Mbp with 1gb of ram and I am thinking about upgrading to 2gb. My question is do many of you who have upgraded have any issues or problems. I called applecare to see if it will void the warranty and their response was that the memory was the cause it wouldn’t be covered. I am torn on whether to upgrade or stay away to keep my warranty

Any advice would be great. I am a recent switch and not completely sure about how this will affect my applecare if there is a problem.

Any bad RAM will not kill your computer. You just remove the RAM and send it back to who you bought it from. What AppleCare is talking about with "not taking care of it" is that they will not deal with 3rd party RAM (replacing it, or having anything to do with it). Totally upgrade your machine and just be sure you get a long warranty on the RAM (lifetime preferably). And install the RAM yourself, it's very easy.
