Hi there,

Looking at buying a maxed out new 27-inch iMac 5K.
Apple offers this RAM upgrade: 32GB 1867MHz DDR3 SDRAM - four 8GB

On the OWC site I could only find 1600MHz RAM and chatted with an employee who confirmed that they do not have the 1867MHz RAM.

Does anybody have a recommendation where to buy 3rd party RAM or should I just buy it from Apple?

Thanks for the help.

I didn't find the 1867MHz the other day. Good find. Thank you.
you can find it right here on owc website. if you buy from apple you are going to pay $600 just for 32gb when you can spend $89 more dollars and max it out to 64gb. 64.0GB OWC Memory Upgrade Kit
4 x 16GB 1867MHZ DDR3 SO-DIMM PC3-14900 its only $688.75

Is there any issue with leaving the 2 x 4GB that come with the iMac and then adding 2 x 16GB in the other two slots? Or is it a bad idea to have different amounts in different slots?

A lot of people here have done exactly that. And it works perfectly fine. I have something similar to that in my old iMac.
