I have done this with coffee cups/mugs. Put it on top of my car so I can put my bag into the passenger seat. Then I just start driving. One made it over a mile with a little less coffee.

Thanks, Mr. Wizard!![]()
Apple would probably pay for a story like this as an advert.
Yeah it'd be really bad someone put their computer in the car first and left their kid on the roof of the car.![]()
Yeah, instead of that "I'm a pc and I'm a mac" crap.
Great story though, I'm glad you got it back still working!
Nah, it could follow the traditional Mac v. PC campaign, just with a twist:
"Hello I'm a Mac, and I just survived being run over by a vehicle at highway speed. Its a good thing my components were already crippled from the factory using fritzy nVidia chips and firewire controllers before I got to my new home, otherwise I might be further disabled"Haha
lets be serious, would a plastic Dell survive a fall from a car roof at 55mph? no way.
someones going to say that happened to them now just to prove me wrong knowing this forum![]()
I repaired the cosmetic damage to the laptop salvaging the back cover off a broken display for sale on ebay. I also ordered a new bottom case off ebay because I really fubared the dvd slot trying to get a disc that was stuck in side the optical drive. And lastly I ordered a new 8X dvd DL drive off ebay to replace the broken one. If you saw this laptop now you'd swear it was good as new. The only thing wrong with it at this point is the F3 key is halfway broken off, but it's still attached and it still works.
So yeah, laptop resurrected to look as if nothing ever happened. Going to give it to my mother and hope she puts it to good use. (Got a new unibody to replace it because i'm too OCD to use a laptop that *MIGHT* be broken)
Take some pics. I'm anxious to compare it before and after.
