I do not run wired on our RMBP 2014, but when close to our router we can get 14 download of the 30mbps we are registered for. When up in the family room we get 12 max during quieter traffic speeds and having the router a floor down.

Not sure it means anything but did a speedtest just now (quieter as well) but ran a 17.26 which is the highest we have run away from the router at any time...maybe means nothing, dunno.

what type of router are you using? i have a airport extreme and using the 5ghz channel and i am getting constant 60mbps from my 50mbps plan. when using the 2.4ghz channel, it ranges anywhere from 8mbps-30mbps. people around me are only using wireless n, 2.4ghz, so there is more interference and i can't get max speeds from that channel. just recently i have seen another 5ghz channel and i hope that stays that way.
