Basically I want to know about when and how group mms works and shows up on my phone.

1. If a non-smart phone texts multiple people the same message, i.e., Happy New Years MacRumors!, does it show up as group MMS and show me the list of people that were texted? Or does it show as a private conversation? Or does it depend entirely on the phone?

2. If a smart phone does the same thing, does it how up?

3. If an iPhone does the same thing with iMessage, what happens?

4. Is there anyway to disable it so I don't get group mms?

Depends entirely on the phone and its capabilities, as well as how the user has it configured. If it supports Group MMS and the user has it turned on, then that's how it will show. If not, you'll see a standard private text message.

2. If a smart phone does the same thing, does it how up?

Again, it depends on what the phone supports, but I figure most smartphones support group MMS now.

3. If an iPhone does the same thing with iMessage, what happens?

It shows up as a group iMessage. All recipients are displayed and each can reply to the whole group.

4. Is there anyway to disable it so I don't get group mms?

Settings -> Messages. Turn "Group Messaging" off.
