Just for kicks, I decided to try and overflow Safari's google search buffer. Guess what happened? Safari crashed, on Tiger anyway. On Snow Leopard, attempting to overflow Safari's google search buffer in this way does NOT cause a crash. It does make Safari eat ungodly amounts of RAM and make it unresponsive, though.
 
Strange! It doesn't crash or eat up excessive RAM for me (Safari 4.0.4 on Leopard 10.5.8). Instead, I get this:
