Watchos 4.0.1 on Series 3 SS LTE Watch. iPhone 7+ 11.0.3.

Randomly, even though the watch is right near the iPhone it will Randomly not get any notification sound or haptic feedback when I get notifications (in particular iMessages/SMS and also Reminders, but also in other app notifications too). Sometimes I will notice a red dot at the top of the watch that tells me I have a notification so that is the only indications that I got a notication. I have to notice it. The iPhone is clearly passing on the message, but the watch isn’t playing any sounds or any haptic. Again this is random and doesn’t always happen. Before you ask.

I have all notifications on both sound and haptic
I do not have DND on
I do not have theater mode on
I don’t have it on silent
I have closed all apps on iPhone and turned both watch and iPhone off and turned on iPhone first and then watch
I have unpaired and repaired
I have set up as a new watch

I have done all of those steps like 4 times already trying to solve this. Since it is random when this happens it seems to work and then all of a sudden I will notice a red dot saying I have notification, but it made no sound or haptic at all.

One thing I noticed is that if I have more than 1 reminder set for same exact time it will never make a sound or haptic on my watch (I can reproduce this 100% of the time). However if I set a reminder with only 1 item going off, it will give me sound and haptic. I have no idea if there is a bug when multiple messages come through the watch freaks out and doesn’t play any sound or haptic at all. I can reproduce that behavior 100% for the reminder app, but with iMessages/SMS this doesn’t always seem to be the case. Sometimes I won’t get sound or haptic even if it is only 1 iMessage. Sometime if there is more than 1 imessage I will get sound and haptic and sometimes nothing at all except the red dot. Like I said totally Random in some cases. Anyone else having this problem at all?

I suspect you have not been able to nail down what could be causing it or how to fix it?

I haven’t.

Hard reboots. Setting the sounds on both. Checking airplane mode/do not disturb and so on.

Sometime my watch mimics the phone, sometimes there’s a notable delay between the phone and watch notification.

Sometimes I read the text on the phone and the watch sends a notification.

Sometimes no notifications on the watch at all.

Absolutely nothing consistent.

Thank you for sharing your experience as well. Frustrating. May I ask what watch you are using and what watchOS and iOS you are using?

Series 3 white edition, 4.01
8+ 11.0.3

Just did a carrier update wonder if that will affect the watch

Can you do me a solid and try something for me. If you get the same exact problem I might try and wait it out for a software fix otherwise might replace mine. Can you set a reminder on your phone for 2 events with an alarm for them to go off at the exact same time (like 5min into the future). Then make sure your phone screen is off on the lock screen (not turned off) and keep it that way until the time of the alarm. If your watch is like mine it might give you haptic but definitely no sound or it might give neither. If you get both sound and haptic (then yours is behaving as intended). I tried this with my SO’s series 2 watch with watchOS 4.0 and it works perfectly. Just not on mine. Would yoi be willing to do that test and report back?

Bumping this thread to add that I’m noticing this issue as well. I will get sounds and haptic with notifications and messages and then suddenly I just get haptic vibrations. It’s happened 3 times since I’ve owned it, today being the third. I power the Watch off and turn it back on and everything works normal again.

In doing searches, it seems this has been a random issue for a while. Hopefully it will get fixed eventually. It’s my one minor annoyance, but since I still get haptic, I don’t feel totally like I’m totally missing out as notifications/messages come in.

I’ve been having haptic feedback issues for a while now...not really sure when it started. Mines more of an issue of me not receiving them.

I’ve also done all the above. Set up as new, unpair, reboot etc.

I was also having an issue where Siri would lose her voice..sometimes a reboot would fix other times I had to change the voice on the phone. Put watch on charger to let it download new voice.

I took my series 3 into apple last week. They sent it to the depot but I’ve just seen service update to say they’ve found no issue.

I wonder if it might be phone related.

I had this issue yesterday.. first was I was making a call from the watch (non LTE ver) and I'm like I can't hear anything.. then I was like I felt my watch vibrate for news alerts but I heard no chime.. after I turned it off then back on it's been fine now but now I'm sorry I upgraded to the newest watch iOS version.
