On the PC, if I want to generate a random sample from a normal distribution, I just go to the data analysis menu under tools. How do I do this on the Mac? Although it's listed under Help (that there's a dialog box to generate random numbers from a normal dist.) I don't know how to find the function. Anyone know? Many thanks.

I think you need to install the data analysis pack. When you double-click the installation package on the Office CD, I think there's an option to do a custom installation. You should be able to install the necessary packages.

Look for "data analysis" in the Excel help menu for more information.
