I bought my iTouch on August 27th, 2008. It's an 8GB first generation. It was working perfectly fine until yesterday when the home button randomly stopped working. There were no signs of sticking prior. I tried various ideas from Google such as rubbing alcohol, but I haven't jailbroken it. Apple quoted me $150 to repair it, but I don't have that right now. Anyone else have any suggestions?

my old ipod touch's home button got very loose too. i gave it a couple bangs on the back and it was good for another couple weeks. i had applecare cover on it and i sent it in and got it fixed for free. 150 is a ridiculous amount to pay, you could just find a guide on ifixit and maybe that'll help.

I've tried several guides and none of them worked. I don't have a warranty or AppleCare.
