Yesterday, iTunes (8.0.1) was working fine.
Today, I clicked the iTunes icon in the dock once, and it bounced once in the dock, and all I got was the spinning beach ball.
After waiting several minutes to see if it would open, I right-clicked the icon, found it "Not Responding", and forced quit.
Tried opening several more times, same thing.
Restarted the system, tried again, same thing.
Uninstalled, reinstalled, same thing.
Uninstalled, deleted all iTunes related Library and User files... reinstalled & same thing.
Even tried creating a new user account, it won't open there either.
I called AppleCare, and after 45 minutes on the phone trying different things, they recommended reinstalling from the Leopard discs. I haven't tried this yet, because I don't have the discs with me at the moment.
After getting off the phone, I tried opening VMWare Fusion, and the exact same thing happened. Stalling, beach ball, not responding, force quit.
I'm running 10.5.5 on the latest 2008 MBP, w/ 4GB ram.
I'm afraid I'm out of ideas and will just have to clean install the OS. 😡
