Hello

In the past week or so my iPad Pro is starting to randomly reboot. I can’t seem to nail down a particular cause. I thought perhaps the lightning port was dirty as several sites said could be an issue so cleaned it lightly but it didn’t seem to help. It didn’t appear to have any “gunk” in it. I’ve kept it in a case since I got it about a year and a half ago and it’s worked great up until and looks near perfect condition so no obvious physical damage. I of course am past my warranty and didn’t purchase AppleCare since my last iPad worked four years flawlessly. Am I out of luck? I’m a music teacher and use it for all my scores almost daily so it’s an essential device for me. I’ll go by the Apple store and see if they will have mercy on me or can offer any suggestions for fixes of course but wanted to see if anyone had any good ideas here first.

Thanks

Are you on the latest version of IOS?
If so, the first point of call should be a fresh reinstall. IMO

Yup. Everything updated. Went to Apple store and did a full reinstall with them and even tried without loading iCloud to see if something was corrupted there. They can’t find anything physically wrong but it’s still getting kernel panics randomly. Really frustrated - my last iPad lasted four years and I sold it and bought this one - but I guess I’m out an iPad and buying a new one. The only debate is should I spring for the 10.5 Black Friday deals or get a refurb 9.7 from gazelle for 399.

Update: Just bought a black Friday deal on Best Buy. I hate spending the money when I really didn't feel I "needed" it and this type of problem has never cropped up for me before. They did the old catch-all "must be the logic board" issue - but why wouldn't that show up on a hardware diagnostic?
