Random .RTF file appearing on desktop?

I use TextEdit a lot to take basic notes and insert screen captures, etc. Sometimes files with the same name appear on my desktop, though they can not be opened, and they have weird extensions like .rtf.sb-94339691-iGm4sJ

I end up just deleting them. Anyone know what they are and why they are created?
