Random sounds

ever since WatchOS 3 and the ability to disable screenshots, I've been getting various sounds randomly, like the Apple Pay chime and another one, despite nothing showing on the screen or there being any notifications. Cannot work out what or why.

Try unpairing and repairing your watch. Not sure it will fix but it has fixed problems for me when ever the AW is acting up.

Done that. It's on silent and it still makes the sounds.

Set the Watch up as new. Do not use restore. If that doesn't repair the issue, you likely will have to send it in to Apple.

I'll try that shortly.

I doubt it's a hardware issue, it has to be a software issue, as only happened since WatchOS 3.

Let me if it works. And I agree it's not hardware. But if it can't be resolved with the restore as new, you could wait until Apple re-releases Watch OS 3.1.1, which may remedy the issue as well.

I have been having this same thing happen at strange times. I am running the latest beta software. I have everyting on silent and just get alerts via vibration. Its really odd hearing noises coming from watch.

It only started with WatchOS 3 and I think it's only when you have screenshots disabled.
