Random Unexpected shut off

My friend is over at my house at the moment and he is trying to connect to my wifi, but every time I try to enter the Wep password and connect it just shuts off. My hands are no where near the power button, and when I turn it back on the screen lights quickly and I see the wifi page that I was on before the shutoff for a split second before it returns to the home screen.

Any help or info would be appreciated, thanks.
