Yeah, I still have no idea what's going on. It just happened again when I was trying to select seats for a flight using Safari. It happens nearly 75% of the time if I try to full screen a flash video.
I'm trying to hold out as well until the new (rumored) MBPs come out. Still, I'd like to know what the hell is wrong with my current MBP so I can hopefully fix it. It's a great computer (when it works) and would hate to have to trash it.

While I'm not saying static damage is the issue, Static damage can cause partial damage that gets worse over time. That is 100% why computer techs and "geniuses" should use antistatic every time. Even electricity the human body generates is enough to cause some damage to circuitry. I've seen scanning electron microscope pictures of this damage; its real.
My computer was doing this and more over the weekend when I installed new RAM. After replacing it with the old RAM, the problem went away. I would recommend taking one stick of RAM out at a time and see which stick (or both) give you problems. If both do, then the problem might be something else (or it could just be both sticks went bad)...either way, it is an easy check for something that would be relatively inexpensive to replace.

Any possibilities it might be a software issue? If so, you can check the crash reporter log that is stored in: ~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter.
Let me know if you guys find anything interesting. Possibly with flash or something causing crashes.

Your best bet is to do a fresh install and see if it still does it. That way you will know for sure if its hardware.

I've taken out one of the sticks of RAM and will give it a couple days to see if it happens again.
Well, it crashed on either stick of RAM. I guess they could both be bad but I'm really thinking it's something to do with the video card. It seems to crash almost exclusively when playing an HD video (full screen) or opening a new tab in Safari (which I think uses some video card power to draw that 'Top Sites' view).
I really don't know. I'm going to install Lion and see if that makes any difference. 🙂

Well for an update:
1) I installed Lion on the system and didnt have a crash since. But sold the mac.
2) I bought a new macbook air 🙂 No problems with that!
Hope you figure out your problem. Because I went into apple and there was no hardware failure with the computer. So he told me to install an clean copy of the OS. I did with Lion and didnt have a problem.

Throwing in my two cents. I've had this problem twice this morning. For me, one of the crashes was def because Parallels crashed on me. The second time I'm pointing to parallels again, but I didn't search the error logs long enough to find the exact cause.
