Not a fan of the apple siri remote at all. Least favorite of the remotes i have. Looking into getting a Harmony to control everything though.

My favorite remote ever to date are the TiVo remotes, but my low-end (so that it takes normal batteries) Harmony ain't half bad either.

Actually the Amazon FireTV remote isn't half bad either, AND also took normal batteries.

Just wondering if the harmony pro will run everything or do i need the elite with the hub. All i want to control is my apple tv, shield tv, fios cable box and my samsung tv (for changing settings ) ?

AFAIK so long as the devices all take IR, you should just be able to use any normal Harmony remote-and thankfully I've learned from this thread that the AppleTV DOES accept normal IR.

Not sure about the ShieldTV though, but I'd assume the cable box and of course TV do.

The Siri remote is awesome. The charge lasts months. You can talk to it. What's not to like. You want batteries? Just no.

Just yes. I ABHOR proprietary and sealed batteries.

And maybe I'll like the remote, but it looks terrible. Too small, too gimmicky, focusing on gimmicks and fashion over use. And again, I may actually love it, we'll see.

Plus obviously it's lame you can only use one, instead of an unlimited number, 7 at a time.

I'm really, REALLY glad AppleTV can use other, IR remotes as I was just avoiding it because of that, and now I'm probably buying one next time I need to turn on a streaming service.

normal as in RS2032 coin cell of the old Apple TV 3 remotes?

That's why i keep one of them round. While my siri remote is charging, i switch over to the Apple TV 3 remote.

I guess you gotta make sacrifices if u wanna do want a remote that does Siri.

When Apple switches to the 'sealed' stuff its only a valid reason to give them more money and get you in the store to get other products... Nothing less.

While Apple sugar coats the response as : "To make things thinner" in the background

This is why I'll always glad i purchased the Apple TV 3 remote specially when i had the chance if Apple ever discontinues it..
