Rapid battery decline after turn off/turn on

30 min. ago I turned off my MBP with battery 98% charged. Went to work, turned it on and now it's 2% and charging. WTF happened? Anyone experienced the same? 😕

Never happened before. But I doubt it's dead, because it's charging as usual.

Maybe the MBP didn't went to sleep and something was bogging down the CPU?

Check the Console for hints.

Still the Console might help finding out what happened in that time, though I am a bit perplexed to be honest.

Just checked it, there are no messages between SHUTDOWN_TIME and BOOT_TIME. Don't know what else to look for, I'm not an expert in this.

What you can do now is unplug the battery and to a SMC reset. Sometimes, the SMC goes wild and drains the battery while the computer is shut down. If this doesn't work, time to invoke AppleCare.

Thanks for the hint, that's a possible option.

Battery is fully charged now. Btw, iStat Pro says battery health is 98% (63 cycles). Everything seems ok for the moment, maybe I'll do some tests later.
