I need to create a split archive of a file over 1GB for posting on my blog. I'd like it to be in RAR format so that both Mac and PC users can access it. I heard I could do it with Stuffit Deluxe so I bought it and now I'm seeing no such option. Neither to create split archives or to create RAR archives, let alone both.

Does anyone know how to do this with Stuffit Deluxe? If not, can you suggest another software? Or perhaps there is another splittable archive file format that is accessible across both Mac and PC platforms?

Thanks.

This seems like such a basic operation. It kind of boggles my mind that it would be this hard to do on the second most popular operation system.

Really nobody knows? :(

Download a free app called simplyrar. It should do what you are trying to do.
